Despite light rain in various parts of West Bengal, including the capital Kolkata, the region continues to experience persistent heat. The regional headquarters of the Meteorological Department in Alipore issued a statement on Wednesday, revealing that Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 26.3 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, and a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius.
Cloudy skies are preventing hot winds from dissipating, contributing to the humid conditions prevailing not only in Kolkata but also in other parts of the state, including Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura. Similar weather patterns are reported in North Bengal districts like Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong.
The Meteorological Department forecasts a continuation of this weather pattern throughout the week, with intermittent light rain and a rise in temperatures expected. Despite the rainfall, the oppressive humidity persists, impacting residents across various regions of West Bengal.
